This week’s guest: Preeti Malkani
With the background of her Indian-German heritage, Preeti has lived in an international context since early childhood. Her frequent stays in India made her aware from an early age that there is no global equality of opportunity.
After completing her international school education and studying business administration, she spent many years at international network agencies managing global brands and leading intercultural teams.
In the following years, alongside managing her family, she became strongly entrepreneurial. During this time, she founded and established a textile label and a brand and communications consultancy for medium-sized businesses. Today, she leads the marketing and communications division in the family-owned business.
In 2018, Preeti co-founded Women for Women International Germany and has been the Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of the non-profit organization since then.
Women for Women International supports women who have experienced war or conflict in rebuilding their lives.
Since 1993, the work has reached over 500,000 women. Through a philosophy of helping them to help themselves, these women have been able to process trauma and loss and create a better future for their children and themselves.
A one-year program, initiated by the organization, equips women with professional skills and economic knowledge. This empowers them to raise their voices and build a life of economic independence and social participation in some of the world’s most dangerous regions.
