In this lecture, photographer and filmmaker Lauren Greenfield shares the mission behind her work and explores the themes that have shaped her practice across photography, film and documentary.

From her early work Fast Forward: Growing Up in the Shadow of Hollywood to Girl Culture, Generation Wealth and her recent project Social Studies, Lauren Greenfield examines the ways culture, media and society influence how we see ourselves and each other. Her work explores themes including beauty, wealth, consumerism, gender, identity, body image, social media and the pressures placed on young people today.

Get a deeper look into Social Studies, her most recent long-term project and current exhibition at Fotografiska Berlin, reflecting on the stories, encounters and questions behind the work. She explores how social media, comparison, self-image and the search for identity shape a generation growing up in an increasingly digital world.

The lecture ends with an open Q&A, joined by one participant Ella from Social Studies.
